BIG Ostróda, a joint venture of Acteeum Group and BIG Shopping Centers, has entered a new stage of development. On November 24, the ceremony of laying the cornerstone took place. The event was attended by representatives of the Ostróda City Hall, local authorities, the Parliament, investors, the General Contractor of the project – Mirbud S.A. – and companies involved in the project.

BIG Ostróda power center will be the largest and most modern shopping complex in the region with a total GLA of 25,000 sqm. It will offer 30 highly expected stores and a stand-alone DIY Castorama store. The opening of the facility, which is now almost completely commercialized, is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024.

On November 24, at the construction site of the power center in Ostróda developed jointly by Acteeum Group and BIG Shopping Centers, the ceremony of signing the foundation act and laying the cornerstone for the investment took place. The event was honored with a presence of local authorities and Parliament representatives, investors and partners involved in the project. The ceremony was also the culmination of the investment General Contractor selection. Investors have chosen Mirbud S.A., which already started construction works on the largest and most modern power center shopping center in the region.

Laying the cornerstone is a special moment on every construction site. From now on, our project will take shape every day until we greet our first customers in the third quarter of 2024. We are convinced that we do create a place that will be an attractive spot for convenient shopping for the residents of Ostróda and the entire region, as well as a great location for tenants, strengthening their commercial presence in the city. – says Eran Levy, Country Manager Poland w BIG Shopping Centers

The Ostróda shopping center is being developed on a plot located on the main entrance road to the city center, directly next to the S7 expressway junction, connecting Warsaw and Gdańsk, and the S16 leading to Olsztyn and Grudziądz.

We are very happy that our Ostróda project, undertaken jointly with BIG, is progressing so dynamically into the final stage of development. The selection of the General Contractor, laying of the cornerstone and the start of construction works constitute the project culmination and is already outlining the way for the grand opening in the third quarter of 2024. We are also very pleased with the commercialization of the facility. It resulted in a perfectly selected shopping offer, which is almost finalized a year before the planned opening. – says Tomasz Szewczyk, Managing Partner, Acteeum Central Europe.

The opening of the facility, which is almost fully commercialized, is planned for the third quarter of 2024. Ostróda Power Center with a total area of 25,000 sqm will offer over 30 stores, including a large-format DIY store of Castorama, a Biedronka supermarket and a whole range of stores of popular brands appreciated and expected by customers. In addition, this extremely conveniently connected facility will offer a spacious parking lot for approximately 700 vehicles, a drive-thru restaurant, a gas station, and the possibility of charging electric cars. This will be a huge advantage not only for residents but also for everyone traveling on the S7 and S16 routes, at intersection hub of which the facility is located.

BIG Ostróda power center will be the first and at the same time the largest shopping complex of this type in the region. The project will provide overall GLA of over 27,000 sqm, including over 15,000 sqm GLA of the retail park and a stand-alone Castorama DIY market. The Retail Park offer will cover stores of such brands as Biedronka, New Yorker, Smyk, CCC, Sinsay, Cropp, House, Media Expert, Martes Sport, 4F, Komfort, Diverse, Rossmann and others. The facility will offer also additional services such as a drive-thru restaurant, gas station, electric vehicles charging facilities, car wash and over 700 parking spaces.

The shopping complex will be constructed at the main entrance road to the city center, directly at the S7 expressway junction connecting Warsaw and Gdańsk, and the S16 leading to Olsztyn and Grudziądz. The location of the facility is also naturally perfectly connected with Ostróda urban area and the region. The catchment of Ostróda Power Center will cover over 120,000 inhabitants, over 500,000 tourists visiting the city annually as well as extremely intensive transit traffic on the S7 and S16 routes.

The opening of Ostróda Power Center is planned for the Q3 of 2024.
