On December 3, 2019, Galeria Chełm – the first shopping center in Chełm, a joint venture of Acteeum and Equilis – was awarded the BREEAM Design Stage – VERY GOOD certificate. This prestigious certificate confirms the effectiveness of the project investors’ efforts to meet the highest ecological standards in the design and development of the Chełm shopping center, which is scheduled to open in Q1 next year.

As a result of a meticulous assessment of the Galeria Chełm development, experts from BRE Global, issuers of BREEAM certificates, gave Chełm project a noble VERY GOOD grade, awarding its Design Stage certificate. The BREEAM certification process has especially emphasized those features of Galeria Chełm focusing on energy, water, utilities and waste use optimization, confirming the far-reaching ecological efforts of the Chełm facility.

– We are very happy with the certificate received by Galeria Chełm. It is a tangible proof of the care for the highest possible pro-ecological nature of our projects from the investors’ and developers’ perspectives, but also taking into account the satisfaction of customers and visitors of the shopping center. In addition, the certification result of our Chełm venture confirmed the perfect actual implementation of the project’s development stage – says Tomasz Szewczyk, Managing Partner of Acteeum Central Europe.

Apart from ecological features, the BREEAM certificate, highly appreciates the project management system at the planning and construction stages, as well as the implemented approach of harmonized use of the plot where Galeria Chełm is being developed.

– The awarded certificate gives us extraordinary joy and satisfaction! It confirms that with development of the Chełm project, we not only create a unique place for happy meetings, entertainment and shopping for the inhabitants of Chełm and the region, but also we ensure great care for the ecology and environmental harmony of Galeria Chełm – explains Monika Woźniak-Zawioła CEO of Equilis in Poland.
